Where we work in Paignton
We cover the whole of Paignton and the streets and villages around it, including:
- Preston and Manor Road
- Goodrington and Roselands
- Clifton and Southfield
- Blatchcombe and Shorton
- Collaton St Mary and Galmpton nearby
If you are near Paignton Green and the seafront, Goodrington Sands, Oldway Mansion and its gardens or Paignton Zoo on the Totnes road, you are well inside our working area.
Front gardens and driveways
The wide frontages around Preston and Clifton mean driveway work is a bigger part of what we do in Paignton than elsewhere in the bay. Block paving, resin-bound and tarmac all work well here, provided the excavation and the sub-base are right and surface water has somewhere legitimate to go.
Where a front garden is being converted to parking we set the levels so water drains to a permeable area or a drainage channel rather than straight out onto the pavement.
Long rear gardens with nothing in them
A lot of the post-war housing here has a long rectangle of lawn and very little else. Those gardens respond well to being broken into zones: a terrace by the house, a path, a planted middle and something useful at the far end, whether that is a garden room, a deck or a raised bed scheme.
Because the ground is flatter, the design does the work, and a fixed price covers the whole scheme rather than a patio now and a wrangle later.

Paignton: common questions
Do I need planning permission for a driveway?
Often not, if the surface is permeable or water is directed to a soakaway or planted area rather than the highway. Phil will tell you what applies to your frontage at the site visit.
How long does a typical Paignton patio take?
It depends on size and access, but you will be given a realistic window before we start rather than a vague promise.
Can you do the garden in stages?
Yes. Some clients here build it in phases. We will sequence it so the later stages do not mean digging up the earlier ones.
